Spiderman comics are one of the most successful comics in the history of man. It all started in the year 1962, the time when Stan Lee, who is the marvel comics’ editor and head writer, wanted to create a new superhero. Stan lee wanted to create a new superhero that people will love because the Fantastic Four that he created became a huge hit. The idea of the Amazing Spiderman came up when Stan Lee noticed the increasing demand of comic books by teen agers. Let’s look at the history of Spiderman Comics.
Spiderman comics’ concept
Because comic books were becoming a huge hit with teen agers during that time, Stan Lee wanted to create a super hero that teen agers can relate to. Thus, the concept of the Spiderman was born. A lot of modern comic editors thought that the concept of Spiderman wouldn’t have passed the testing done by various testers today. In that year, Stan Lee only needed the approval of Martin Goodman, Marvel’s publisher. Let’s look at the artist behind Spiderman Comics.
Spiderman comics’ artist
When the concept was approved it was now time for the illustration of the character. Stan lee asked a lot of artists to do the artwork for Spiderman however, he had many works turned down thinking that the characters that they drew were very heroic. Then he asked the artist Steve Ditko to do some of the illustrations and he ended up loving the character Ditko came up with. Ditko came up with the costume of Spiderman and even doubted that Stan Lee will like the mask used by the character to cover his face.
Spiderman comics’ success
After a few months of introducing the Spiderman to the market, Martin Goodman was shocked to learn that the Amazing Fantasy which starred the Spiderman character was the best selling comics of marvel publication at that time. The success of the “Amazing Fantasy” leads to the launch of the “Amazing Spiderman comics,” which became one the of the top selling Marvel comics of all time.
